LK stands for Lucas Kanade, and the LK Optical Flow is an algorithm for tracking movement of objects in a video stream.
OpenCV is an open-source computer vision library, that can be found
here
. With OpenCV comes a demo application showing the capabilities of the LK Optical Flow on any computer webcam. Success Labs were interested to test the same application on the iPhone.
Still in the making, but already showing LK Optical Flow on the iPhone, this app proves that there's not much you can't do on an iPhone. At an initial ~7 frames per second, the app is pretty cool, and most heavy calculations don't have to do with the algorithm at all - so there's still room for improvement.
Once we finalize the project, and optimize the FPS, this project will be available on our
Published Projects
page.
